Nexus is an all-in-one platform aimed at simplifying the academic journey for students by providing comprehensive resources and personalized guidance. The platform offers a robust search engine to explore universities, professors, and funding opportunities, allowing users to filter by criteria like location, research interests, and scholarship type. A built-in chatbot serves as a virtual mentor, answering queries about scholarships, admissions, and academic programs. Nexus also allows users to shortlist universities and professors, making it easier to track important information. In the future, we plan to integrate one-on-one chat with human mentors, and enhance design to offer personalized guidance alongside the AI assistant.

The bot uses LangChain framework, Django (Python) Cookie Cutter on the backend. The front end user interface is designed on discord. For Wireframes we have used figma. Our project is about using Google Vertex AI text-generation model(s) to recommend recently published literary pieces (short fiction, creative nonfiction essays, interviews, etc) published by small, independent or academic literary journals, to a wider audience. The motivation for our project is the grim reality of how underfunded small, literary journals areto increase the readership of literary journals by encouraging our app's users to click on interesting headlines to read the entire piece on the journal's website. We envision that the users could use some filter words to narrow their search or our recommendations. To recommend these pieces, we want to either classify each literary piece or to use AI to summarize it to no more than 10-15 words.
