Join us on March 10th and 16th for a unique blend of an online hackathon and an on-site conference, where we will challenge participants to innovate with AI and showcase the most forward-thinking advances in the economic area.

Introducing salz21 - the premier event for small and medium-sized businesses, startups, and investors to come together, collaborate and discover the latest cutting-edge technologies on the market.

Our online hackathon will give participants the opportunity to showcase their skills and compete for the chance to present their projects on stage at salz21 taking place on 15-16 March.

At the conference, you will be able to network with like-minded individuals and discover new opportunities for growth in the field of advanced technologies. Join us and become the very best in your field at salz21!

Prizes and Awards

πŸ† Grand Prize Winners of the Hackathon will be rewarded with amazing prizes, including:

  • A place in the StartUp Salzburg incubator (located in Austria) for six months
  • 2 FLEX memberships for 6 months for the TALENT GARDEN platform

Hackathon Technology (AI Tools To Use)

OpenAI

GPT-3

GPT-3 is OpenAI's third-generation language model with 175 billion parameters, enabling human-like text generation. It's in open beta.

Codex

OpenAI Codex is an AI model that parses natural language and generates code. It powers GitHub Copilot, an auto completion tool, and is based on GPT-3. It has been trained on 159 GB of Python code from 54M GitHub repos.

DALL-E 2

DALL-E 2 is a 3.5B parameter generative language model that creates images from sentences. Its images are 4x better in resolution than its predecessor, with human judges preferring it to DALL-E 70% of the time.

Whisper

Whisper is a powerful speech recognition and translation model trained on 680,000 hours of multilingual data. It uses an encoder-decoder architecture to convert audio into text and it also supports language identification, phrase-level timestamps, and multilingual transcription. Integrate cutting-edge speech recognition into your applications with the Whisper API endpoint.

ChatGPT API

ChatGPT is a text-generating AI model trained on conversations and other human-generated text. It can generate responses, code, make suggestions and provide information in a natural conversational style. It was trained using RLHF and supervised fine-tuning with human AI trainers. The ChatGPT API endpoint provides a convenient way to incorporate advanced language understanding into your applications.

Cohere

Generate

Generate is a language model for writing and summarizing text, correcting spelling/grammar, and extracting entities.

Classify

Use Classify to quickly organize data by labeling text, performing content moderation, detecting user intent, classifying topics and analyzing sentiment.

Embed

Embed lets AI read Reddit posts about your company and show results in a graph. It also offers semantic search, topic modeling, and recommendations.

Multilingual Semantic Search

Text embeddings are key to machine language understanding, representing text meaning as numbers through an embedding model. Multilingual models can handle multiple languages effectively.

Sandbox

Sandbox provides open-source GitHub repos to quickly build ML apps with Cohere. It's easy for any developer, no ML experience required.

πŸ—“οΈ Where and when

The hackathon starts on March 10 and concludes on March 14. Over the course of the weekend, participants will gain unique insight from mentors, and engage in workshops, keynotes, and other sessions with lablab professionals. The hackathon will take place on the lablab.ai platform.

πŸ¦ΈπŸΌβ€β™‚οΈ Who should participate?

Previous experience in AI is not required but welcomed. While many participants are industry experts, we also welcome people with other types of domain knowledge that want to understand & explore how AI can be used in their fields.

πŸ˜… How about teams?

If you don’t have a team you will be able to match and team up with other participants around the world. Finding & creating teams can be done from the dashboard you can access after you enroll. We also recommend checking our Discord server to find teammates and discuss ideas. You can join it here

πŸ› οΈ How to participate in the hackathon

The hackathon will take place online on lablab.ai platform and lablab.ai Discord Server. Please register for both in order to participate. To participate click the "Enroll" button at the bottom of the page and read our Hackathon Guidelines and Getting Started Guide.

          Hackathon FAQ

          Who can join the Hackathon?

          We welcome domain experts from all industries, not just AI or tech. Successful AI solutions require a combination of technical expertise and domain knowledge. Coding experience is recommended.

          Do I need a team?

          You are welcome to join as a team or solo. If solo, we still encourage you to look for a team before the event, but ultimately it is your choice. We recommend you to join the Deep Learning Labs Discord channel: https://discord.gg/gCuBwBB35k and posting in the #looking-for-team channel to get to know your potential future team members.

          Do I need a Github account?

          It is recommended. At least one team member should have a Github account. You can create one for free if you don't already have one.
