Smell is the last undigitized human sense. While vision has cameras, hearing has microphones, and touch has haptic sensors — smell remains uncharted territory. OlfactAI bridges that gap. Built for AMD Developer Hackathon ACT II, OlfactAI is an AI-powered smell intelligence agent that classifies scents and detects life-threatening dangers before it's too late. THE PROBLEM In Indonesia alone, hundreds of people die yearly from LPG gas leaks — the tabung gas melon 3kg used by millions of households. Food poisoning affects millions more, and 1 in 8 COVID survivors permanently lost their sense of smell (anosmia). These are problems that a digitized sense of smell could directly address. WHAT OLFACTAI DOES - Real-time smell classification: Gas, Burnt, Rotten, Earthy, Chemical, Floral - Danger level detection: SAFE / WARNING / DANGER - Bilingual emergency instructions (Bahasa Indonesia + English) - LPG gas leak detection with 6-step evacuation guide - Food safety screening to prevent poisoning - Medical screening support for anosmia patients HOW IT WORKS Users describe a smell via text input. The AI agent — powered by Fireworks AI running on AMD GPU infrastructure — analyzes the description, classifies the smell, assesses danger level, and generates appropriate emergency response in real-time. TECH STACK - AI Engine: Fireworks AI API (Qwen3.7 Plus model) on AMD Developer Cloud - Backend: Python + Flask REST API - Frontend: Responsive HTML/CSS/JS dark-themed web interface IMPACT OlfactAI targets 80M+ LPG users in Indonesia, food vendors and households at risk of poisoning, and the growing population of COVID anosmia sufferers worldwide. The hardware to transmit smell doesn't exist yet — but we built the AI brain that understands it. The hardware will follow.
