IBM Granite access and Usage Guidelines

Participants can use IBM Granite models to develop their innovative solutions by accessing them through the IBM Cloud watsonx.ai platform or through open-source platforms.

⏰ IBM Cloud watsonx.ai platform

To access IBM Granite models and use the SaaS runtime environment for model inference on IBM Cloud watsonx.ai, participants must request an IBM Cloud account during hackathon registration. A credit limit of $100 will be provided for usage on the platform and it should be enough for you to design and create a compelling submission for this challenge. Instructions to access and use the hackathon provisioned IBM Cloud accounts will be shared at the start of the hackathon. Email notifications will be sent at 25%, 50%, and 80%, and the account will reset once it reaches the 100% amount. Please plan to use the credits efficiently.

Note: If you do not request an IBM Cloud account during registration, you will only be able to access IBM Granite models through open-source platforms. IBM will be covering only the usage cost associated with the hackathon provisioned IBM Cloud account.

Open-source platforms
Participants can also access IBM Granite models through open-source platforms and run them locally on their machines.

Available options:
 Download Granite on Hugging Face
 Run locally with Ollama

System Requirements:
To run Granite models locally, it is recommended to use a machine with at least 32 GB RAM and a GPU processor. While running the models on a lower size RAM and CPU is possible, it may result in slower performance.
