Appnort is a local-first software audit and inventory management tool built exclusively for Windows. It scans your system's installed programs by reading the Windows Registry, then intelligently categorizes each application using a two-tier approach: fast rule-based keyword matching for known software, and AI-powered classification (via Groq's Llama 3.3 70B model) for everything else. Each application is assigned a category (Development, Productivity, Games, Browsers, Media, System, Communication, or Utilities) and a security risk rating (Low, Medium, or High). Results are displayed in a clean, modern GUI built with CustomTkinter, supporting both dark and light themes. Users can export detailed, color-coded PDF audit reports summarizing their software inventory, category breakdown, and risk assessment. Appnort is designed with privacy in mind all data stays local, API keys are stored on your machine, and AI results are cached to minimize external calls. It works without an API key using rules-only mode, making it accessible to all users.
