BabAI

BabAI is an AI-powered WhatsApp bot aimed at simplifying pension applications for Bulgarian retirees. Most elderly people struggle with Google searches and feel overwhelmed by the volume and complexity of information available online. They value personal connections and often pay extra for consulting services where human agents assist with eligibility-related questions. Given the low income of elderly individuals in Bulgaria, where the average monthly pension is just 740 BGN (~$400), these consultations pose a significant financial burden. This creates a reinforcing loop: elderly people must pay additional fees to access critical information about financial support they are eligible for. Unfortunately, due to the complexity of the documentation, nearly 30% of initial applications face rejection, leading to redundancy in resubmissions and missed benefits. BabAI addresses these challenges by offering an accessible, user-friendly platform with text support in Bulgarian. The bot utilizes Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) to retrieve accurate information from official pension guidelines. Leveraging Hugging Face transformer sentence embeddings and Pinecone Index, it ensures fast and precise query resolution. Through WhatsApp integration via Twilio, BabAI allows users to access information in an environment familiar to them. Users can send queries and receive clear responses, removing the need for costly consultations. BabAI significantly reduces the likelihood of application rejection by providing step-by-step guidance on document preparation and eligibility checks. This not only minimizes redundancy but also ensures retirees receive the maximum pension benefits they are entitled to, empowering them with financial security and peace of mind. We set up a few helpful agents that are able to calculate the pension eligibility and return the expected pension given the updated guidelines from the government website.
