Why TruLens?

  • Evaluation: TruLens allows you to evaluate the quality of your LLM-based applications by supporting the assessment of inputs, outputs, and internals of your LLM application. It provides built-in feedback functions such as groundedness, relevance, and toxicity and is easily extensible for custom evaluation requirements.
  • Tracking: TruLens offers instrumentation for any LLM application, including question answering, retrieval-augmented generation, and agent-based applications. This instrumentation enables the tracking of various usage metrics and metadata, making it a valuable tool for understanding the performance of your models.

Hackathon Challenge

Build an LLM-based application using AI observability for improvement. Utilize TruLens by TruEra and Google Cloud Vertex AI to create a high-performing prototype. Develop an evaluation suite with TruLens to enhance critical aspects of your use case. Emphasize practicality, usability, and effective use of both tools.

Your success criteria include addressing a real-world problem, showcasing usability, achieving high evaluations, and effectively leveraging both platforms.

How to Move to the Main Challenge

🌟 As you engage in the TruLens & Google Vertex AI 48-Hour Hackathon, remember that this event serves as a pivotal warm-up for the main challenge. This moment presents a unique opportunity to seamlessly transition your efforts towards achieving success. Ensure you meet these essential requirements:

  1. Define feedback functions comprehensively to measure your application's success.
  2. Share evaluations from both your initial prototype and the final version, highlighting the remarkable enhancements achieved through TruLens.
  3. Concentrate your efforts on crafting retrieval augmented generation (RAG) applications aligned with the primary challenge's objectives.

🚀 Moreover, as you work on your solution, you have the option to submit the prototype immediately or reserve it solely for the main challenge. Submitting now grants you the invaluable opportunity to receive initial feedback from mentors and judges before diving into the main challenge. Furthermore, every project submitted at the TruLens & Google Vertex AI 48-Hour Hackathon will receive a certificate upon its completion at the hackathon's end.
