The "Cortex" Initiative is a proposal to build an autonomous, GenAI-powered "central nervous system" for the enterprise using AWS. Moving beyond static dashboards and passive chatbots, this project deploys an Agentic AI capable of observing real-time data streams, reasoning across siloed business domains (Sales, Finance, Supply Chain), and actively recommending strategic interventions. It solves the critical "insight-action gap" by turning raw enterprise data into instant, defensible business decisions. 1. The Core Problem: The "Rich Data, Poor Insight" Paradox Modern enterprises are drowning in data but starving for wisdom. We operate in a fragmented landscape where: Data is Siloed: Customer sentiment lives in Salesforce, inventory levels in SAP, and financial risk in Excel/Oracle. No single system sees the full picture. Insights are Stale: Executives make decisions based on "Quarterly Business Reviews" or dashboards that are days or weeks old. Correlation is Manual: Connecting a dip in regional sales to a specific supply chain disruption requires hours of manual analysis by data teams. AI is Passive: Current AI tools wait for prompts. They do not proactively warn leadership of emerging risks or opportunities. The Result: Reactive decision-making that costs millions in missed opportunities and unmitigated risks. 2. The Solution: An Agentic AI Architecture We propose building a Real-Time Enterprise Intelligence Agent—a proactive digital analyst that lives 24/7 in the cloud. Unlike a standard chatbot that simply retrieves answers, this Agent is architected to Observe, Reason, and Act. It Observes (Real-Time Ingestion): Using Amazon Kinesis and Zero-ETL integrations, the Agent listens to live "heartbeats" from across the company—every closed deal, every shipped unit, and every support ticket—streaming this data instantly into a unified Amazon Redshift warehouse.
