Helios Protocol: The AI Earth Node Infrastructure Arbitrage for the Qubic Network The Problem: The Duck Curve At solar noon, residential panels generate 400% more energy than homes consume. This forces utilities to "curtail" (waste) terawatts of clean power. Simultaneously, the AI industry creates a desperate demand for compute. The Solution Helios Protocol bridges these crises via Infrastructure Arbitrage. Instead of building expensive cables to move electricity to data centers, we use the internet to move AI training jobs to the energy source. How We Built It Helios is a full-stack decentralized node built on three layers: Physics Engine (React/Vite): Our "Command Center" simulates home battery thermodynamics. At 1:00 PM, it detects 100% saturation and automatically triggers the mining sequence to capture stranded energy. Neural Node (Python/PyTorch): We replaced useless crypto hashing with Useful Proof-of-Work (UPoW). The backend spins up a local Neural Network, executing real-time Gradient Descent. The dashboard visualizes the actual training loss dropping, proving the generation of intelligence. Consensus (C++/Qubic): A mock Smart Contract validates the work. If the miner improves the AI model's accuracy, the contract streams Qubic tokens to the user's wallet. Impact Helios transforms a solar roof from a passive saver into an active, revenue-generating supercomputer, turning waste into intelligence.
