Successful retail arbitrage requires speed and precision. Standing in an aisle manually searching for eBay comps takes too long, and doing it in front of a seller immediately signals an item's hidden value. What-The-Flip is an end-to-end AI appraisal engine built for your pocket. Using a React Native mobile frontend, users simply input a sticker price and snap a photo of any item—from vintage electronics to graphing calculators. The image is securely routed via an Ngrok tunnel to our FastAPI backend. We leverage Google Gemini 2.5 Vision (with routing between Flash and Pro models for speed vs. accuracy) to identify the exact item, brand, and condition. Our custom Python comp_engine and velocity_engine then analyze the market, subtract standard marketplace fees and shipping costs, and calculate the true projected net profit. Finally, a statistical ML model predicts market liquidity, telling the user exactly how many days the item will take to sell. Backed by Supabase for persistent scan history, What-The-Flip replaces manual research with an instant, data-driven "Buy or Pass" verdict.
