RhinoGuardians addresses the urgent crisis of black rhino extinction by deploying an AI-powered surveillance and alert system. Using drones and camera traps, it captures live imagery that is analyzed instantly by a YOLOv5 computer vision model to detect rhinos, poachers, and vehicles with over 95% accuracy and sub-second latency. Detected threats are geo-tagged and immediately sent as alerts to ranger teams via SMS, email, and an interactive dashboard, enabling rapid response before poachers strike. The system is scalable across reserves, open-source, and designed to revolutionize conservation efforts by combining cutting-edge AI, real-time monitoring, and actionable intelligence, ultimately saving one of Africa’s most iconic species from extinction.
