Guardian Overlay — T&C Risk Analyzer Every day, billions of people click "I Accept" on Terms & Conditions without reading a single word. NOT* all but some Companies bury dangerous clauses in walls of legal text — binding arbitration that strips your right to sue, silent data selling to third parties, auto-renewing subscriptions, and hidden fees — because they know nobody reads them. Guardian fixes that. Guardian is a Chrome Extension that automatically detects when you land on a Terms & Conditions or Privacy Policy page, analyzes it using AI, and shows you a plain-English risk report — right before you click Accept. You get a 🟢🟡🔴 risk level, The top 3 traps, Every permission the service is taking, If there is an Hidden fees , and arbitration status. All in under 5 seconds. The smart part is how it works. Guardian uses a 3-stage pipeline before touching any AI: first it extracts only relevant paragraphs using 40+ legal keyword rules, then compresses the text down from 200,000 characters to under 8,000, then checks if the content even needs an AI call at all. This reduces token usage by 80–95%, meaning most scans cost fractions of a cent and cached results are completely free. Built with Chrome Manifest V3, Node.js, and Google Gemini 2.5 Flash (free tier — 500 requests/day, no credit card). Features include auto-scan toggle, scan history with timestamps, right-click analysis on any link, warning banners on signup pages, and a 7-day smart cache. Future plans I'm thinking of include an Android and iOS overlay app — because you shouldn't have to blindly accept T&Cs on mobile either.
