1 year of experience
I’m Haroon Raza, a 22-year-old engineer passionate about machine learning, artificial intelligence, and smart systems. My journey began in Pakistan, where I developed a curiosity for how things work, leading me to pursue engineering. Throughout my studies, I was drawn to AI, machine learning, and computer vision, fields that allowed me to blend theory with real-world problem-solving. In 2024, I interned at the National Institute of Electronics in Islamabad, where I worked on reverse engineering dot matrix displays and AI projects. This included using YOLO (You Only Look Once) for object detection and EasyOCR for optical character recognition, along with contributing to a smart parking management system. This experience fueled my passion for AI and inspired me to create practical applications that make a real impact. My most ambitious project is the Smart Cart module, which integrates machine learning, computer vision, and voice recognition to improve the shopping experience. The cart detects items via barcode and QR code scanning, eliminating checkout lines. I also added a voice assistant for accessibility, using Vosk and GTTS. The cart's backend runs on Django, providing retailers with data insights. I optimized its performance using OpenVINO, reducing inference time significantly. I’m focused on applying machine learning to real-time applications, especially in object detection and tracking. I’ve worked on optimizing models like YOLO for faster performance and accuracy. Moving forward, I aim to explore AI’s potential in healthcare, transportation, and smart cities, while continuing to push the boundaries of machine learning and AI technologies. My goal is to create intelligent, accessible systems that improve everyday life.
