MissionForge is a CLI-first development harness and IBM Bob Skill that turns complex software work into scoped, measurable missions. It is designed for refactors, modernization tasks, and multi-file feature builds where teams need more structure than a normal AI coding chat can provide. Instead of asking Bob to work through a large task in one sprawling session, MissionForge gives Bob a clear mission contract: what the goal is, which files are allowed to change, which paths are forbidden, what metrics define success, which tests must pass, and what evidence must be produced. The key principle is: Bob measures the code, MissionForge measures the mission. Bob handles the reasoning-heavy work, such as understanding the codebase, decomposing the task into sub-missions, implementing changes, and explaining code-level outcomes. MissionForge handles deterministic work, such as mission state, schema validation, git diff checks, baseline and final metric records, test execution, dependency ordering, and report generation. This makes AI-assisted development safer and more auditable. Each mission can be broken into smaller sub-missions with their own scope, metrics, and validation gates. Reviewers can see exactly what changed, whether forbidden files were touched, what the baseline was, what the final result became, and whether required tests passed. The final report becomes a PR-ready artifact that helps teams explain and trust AI-assisted changes. MissionForge is valuable for teams using IBM Bob in real development workflows because it adds guardrails without replacing Bob’s strengths. It does not try to become a code intelligence engine or a language-specific analyzer. Instead, it stays language-agnostic and lets Bob do what Bob does best: reason about code. The result is a repeatable workflow where complex work becomes visible, measurable, and easier to approve. MissionForge gives Bob a map, a mission, and a validation gate.
