NotebookLM is great but - When given documents with pictures (rather than text), it’s not able to process them. - For audio overview, it stretches out the teaching, and sometimes even literally tries to turn them into a podcast. I was studying for linear algebra last week when I realized that studying with the current LLM models is somewhat painful. They often go on tangents, and the conversation sometimes feels unnatural. I wanted something to feel like I was talking to my teacher during his office hours, with the teacher drawing on the board while explaining, and having a full back and forth. Question: - Why not use Gemini or ChatGPT or some other regular model? - No good option for text-to-speech. I wanted to feel like I’m at the office. - Wanted something more visual that had an interface more like Pi[dot]ai but with graphs, charts, etc. With the ability to scroll. Rather than the standard interface. - No option to explicitly only use the provided document (unless you specify it in every request), but it can go on tangents and forget there as well. OfficeHours AI will have the option for the AI to only reference your documents (if that option is selected), or only search the web, or both. Making it more customizable. - On the long term, we want this tool to be a full suite for studying a subject/topic, where it would be able to provide the student with flash cards, quizzes, etc.
