Earthquake information for New Zealand is available through several scientific bodies, but usually requires time and resources to access. To get the information, usually a user needs to provide multiple points of information (latitude/longitude, region, date ranges) in several forms: radio buttons, text boxes, date boxes. This slows access down, and may require fast internet and a larger device (desktop or laptop) to access comfortably. These factors hinder the provision of earthquake information to marginalized communities. The intention of GeoBot is to provide a conversational interface to earthquake information, accessible via a web frontend. Detailed information is available through the normal sites, and links are available for people who want to dive deeper. GeoBot will answer direct informational queries, and if it detects an emergency situation will provide appropriate advice for stronger earthquakes and potential tsunamis. Each response will link back to the appropriate page on GeoNet (NZ earthquake information) or New Zealand Civil Defence.
