LMMS (Linux MultiMedia Studio) is an open-source, cross-platform digital audio workstation (DAW) designed to make professional music production free, accessible, and enjoyable for everyone. Whether you are a beginner experimenting with beats or an experienced producer working on full tracks, LMMS provides a complete set of tools to bring your musical ideas to life. With an intuitive interface and powerful features, LMMS allows you to compose melodies with the Piano Roll and Song Editor, build beats and rhythms with the Pattern Editor and Beat Sequencer, mix with an unlimited mixer and add effects, and use more than 15 built-in synthesizer plugins. It also supports industry standards such as VST(i), SoundFont2, LADSPA, and MIDI, along with full track-based automation and modulation sources. MIDI importing and exporting makes it easy to integrate LMMS with other DAWs and hardware. LMMS is a community-driven project. Our contributors include developers, musicians, designers, testers, and educators from all around the world who work together to continuously improve the platform. The mission of LMMS is to provide a free, high-quality DAW that empowers creativity without barriers, so that anyone can make music without being limited by expensive tools. By joining LMMS, you become part of an active community where you can contribute to the core codebase, design and improve the user interface, create artwork and demo songs, test features and report bugs, and write tutorials and documentation for new users. Together we are building not only a DAW but also a collaborative ecosystem of creativity, learning, and inspiration for musicians worldwide.
