Aegis AI is an autonomous governance engine designed to control and constrain AI agents operating under high-pressure enterprise environments. Modern AI systems increasingly act autonomously, yet most lack enforceable governance when decisions become risky, unethical, or policy-violating. Aegis addresses this gap by introducing a deterministic, multi-agent governance layer that evaluates intent, risk, objections, and policy compliance before execution. The system is composed of specialized agents including Planner, Analyst, Risk, Challenger, Consensus, Executor, and Auditor. Each agent produces structured outputs with rationale, confidence bounds, and audit identifiers. Control flow is deterministic and traceable, ensuring reproducible outcomes. Aegis actively blocks execution when policies are violated, even under simulated executive override pressure, and generates an authoritative audit trail explaining why actions were approved, revised, or rejected. The project demonstrates how AI systems can be governed safely without relying on probabilistic trust, making Aegis suitable for enterprise incident response, regulated environments, and mission-critical AI operations.
