DeducRx addresses the growing challenges faced by pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in processing the 2.5 billion electronic prescriptions sent annually in the United States. By leveraging WatsonAI's advanced capabilities, our project tackles three critical issues in prescription handling:

Intelligent Data Extraction: DeducRx accurately extracts dosage and frequency information from label directions in ePrescriptions. With 92% of U.S. prescriptions being electronic and often lacking standardized fields for this crucial data, our AI solution fills this gap by inferring and extracting this information from free-text label directions.
Patient-Friendly Instructions: We transform complex label directions into clear, concise instructions suitable for low-literacy or elderly patients. This feature ensures better comprehension and adherence to medication regimens, potentially improving patient outcomes.
Multilingual Support: DeducRx translates label directions into the patient's preferred language, breaking down language barriers and enhancing medication safety for diverse populations.

By automating these processes, DeducRx significantly reduces the workload on pharmacy staff, minimizes errors, and improves the overall quality of patient care. Our solution not only streamlines pharmacy operations but also contributes to better health outcomes by ensuring patients fully understand their medication instructions.
