In areas with limited or unreliable internet access, teachers often face significant challenges in accessing tools and resources to support effective learning. Our project introduces Gnome: an offline AI-powered device built on Raspberry Pi, designed to bring advanced AI functionality directly into classrooms—without requiring an internet connection. The device creates curated selection of educational PDFs tailored to specific classroom needs. To ensure better quality and speed, any resources that are generated are maintained for future use, and can be accessed at a moment's notice. This ensures that educators have access to high-quality materials by using the compact storage capabilities of the Raspberry Pi. In addition to providing curated educational resources, this project gives educators an offline AI assistant that can generate quizzes, clarify concepts, and assist with lesson planning. Teachers can seamlessly interact with the AI to create multiple-choice quizzes tailored to their topics or get support for their teaching needs. Students can also use this to ask questions, get help, and get tutoring. This streamlined approach enhances their capabilities and saves time, all without relying on internet connectivity. By eliminating the dependency on reliable internet access, we provide a scalable, practical tool for underserved regions. Combining advanced AI capabilities with offline functionality, the Gnome provides educators with the resources and tools needed to deliver high-quality education, bridging the digital divide and creating a lasting impact in communities with limited connectivity or power.
